The first awards of its kind founded in 2013 by entrepreneur Yemisi Odegbami with the first event launched on the 17^th August 2014 at the Jazz Cafe in the UK. The Afrobeats Music inspired with the scope to develop to the scope of The American Grammy Awards with a ceremony to recognise the achievements and celebrate African Artists Throughout the World in the music industry – AFRICA- West, East, North and South Africa, EUROPE- France UK, Germany, United States, AMERICA- East, West and South and the Caribbean. The televised annual presentation will feature performances by prominent artists, award presentations and a lavish red carpet parade.

For over half a decade, through a series of music events, radio programs, and festivals such as the award-winning Afrobeats Sundays, Afrobeats Music Festival, and Nigerian/Ghanaian Independence Celebration both at O2 Indigo, DJ Abrantee and Yemisi Odegbami have been instrumental in establishing and propagating the fledgling Afrobeats brand to millions of Africans in the diaspora while introducing the music brand to wider audiences through radio and television programs.
